Dexter Die-Stamped & Forged Signet Rings

CAST RINGS - Inferior cast rings, are manufactured from cast gold. The casting process is simply pouring molten metal into a mould. These products are often decorative, the detailing designed to mask the imperfections caused by the casting process itself. Like all cast metal products, these rings are inherently porous, and this will lead to weakness, imperfections, and wear issues. The alternative method of producing a signet ring is by die-stamping and forging.

DIE-STAMPED & FORGED RINGS - This skilled process of producing a signet ring begins with a sheet of highly compressed gold, from which the flat profile of the signet ring is stamped. The stamping process is done with a die under great weight, which in turn compresses the gold further, making the material incredibly dense. The flat profile is then forged by a skilled goldsmith into a blank signet ring. The forging process again hardens the precious metal, finally resulting in an incredibly strong signet ring on which we can then engrave.

The die-stamped and forged signet ring provides a solid and stable base for the deep engraving process. Not only is the finished ring considerably harder wearing, but is better for engraving. As the precious metal is so dense it will lend itself to a more precise cut, giving your signet ring a sharper, more defined engraving.

We trust our heritage quality signet rings will look as good today as they will tomorrow, and will not just last a lifetime but be passed on to future generations. This is why we only use the very best quality die-stamped & forged signet rings for our engraving.
